Danny Sloan of Iredell Water Corporation has recently joined the NCRWA Board of Directors. Mr. Sloan was appointed to fill the Region 4 vacant seat and will serve until the next Annual Business Meeting, when the seat will be filled by the membership. Danny has been in the water industry for 20 years. He serves on many boards, including the NC Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board and the NC Underground Damage Prevention Review Board. Like most people in the industry, Danny says he never planned on having a career in water. “It happened by chance. I was 21-years-old and spent two years attending college off and on and had finally came to the realization that college wasn’t for me. A close friend had a family member who worked at Iredell Water and had told me they were looking for someone in maintenance and asked me to come by to put in an application. I did, and so began my career in the industry. I began at the bottom fixing leaks, installing new services, and reading meters. Iredell Water had a need for more water treatment operators and I took advantage of every school I could attend to get certified in what was available to me. From there I moved into water treatment and began taking an interest in SCADA programing and new advances in technologies for the water industry and so began my climb into management,” said Sloan. Danny is no stranger to Rural Water. He regularly attends our events and has traveled with us to reach out to state and federal leaders. “I think the world of NCRWA! I hope I can give back just part of what Rural Water has given me,” said Sloan. NCRWA thinks a lot of Danny as well and we’re excited to have him on the board!
